Why Yoga

Every single yogi has a unique story of how they arrived at yoga, but we all ultimately journey down the same path together, wide though it may be.

What initially attracts most people to a yoga studio is the allure of exercise–getting sweaty, stretching the muscles, using the body to strengthen itself.

Yet what keeps most people returning again and again to the yoga mat is the opportunity to go beyond the asanas and nurture the mind and soul.  Yoga, as outlined by the ancient sutras, actually has little to do with poses and everything to do with self-awareness, self-improvement, and self-study.  Practicing yoga invites us to show kindness & grace to ourselves, to be flexible with our minds and our bodies, and to be more fully present in our lives both on and off the mat.

Grow Soul Beautiful passionately believes that yoga can change lives as we connect wellness of the mind and body with gentle  soul-nurturing.

Yoga is powerful and beautiful for countless reasons, but here are a few of our favorites:

  • Yoga is for everybody. PERIOD. No fancy clothes required, no expensive classes necessary, no prior physical fitness required. Start now, start wherever you are, keep going.
  • Yoga is about community. Around the world, across cultures, stretching back hundreds & hundreds of years, through collaborations, giving, and sharing.  Being part of the yoga community provides empowerment, generosity, and a sense of belonging.
  • Yoga is so much more than the poses alone.  Read the sutras, explore the 8 limbs of yoga, delve into your chakras, commit to meditation.  You won’t believe the benefits you’ll incur when you adventure into yoga beyond the asana.
