Creative Color Challenge

by Amanda on October 4, 2012

Since it’s the beginning of the month, I wanted to share another wonderful, inspirational activity that I love.  Even though I don’t actually participate in the Creative Color Challenge by Louise Gale, I immensely enjoy seeing all the beautiful creations and art that are born each month, based around a particular color palette chosen by Louise.

It’s easy to overlook the importance of art & creativity in our lives, and I wholeheartedly support anything we can do to put a little artistic soul back into our daily routine (even if that just means using a simple tool such as Instagram).

I adore the spirit of this project: just imagine people all around the world, all working with with same sets of colors & energy, creating incredible art in a wide variety of mediums, and then sharing it with each other in a grand celebration of creative genius.

This month’s color palette is OH so rich & inviting, ready to snuggle down into fall with the October Color challenge based on natural elements!

Here’s how the Creative Color Challenge work, in Louise’s words:

On the 1st of every month in 2012, I will post a color challenge based on a color story or theme and colors inspiring me. I will challenge you to explore the colors in the challenge and create something ONLY in the color palette listed. This will really stretch us and encourage us to explore, create and be inspired. Then on the 28th of the month, I will post my creations and ask you to share yours through a special thumbnail linky tool (where you can add a thumbnail of an image and a link back to your blog post). Then we can all visit each other. Throughout the month, you can also post to flickr, blog about your process, tweet and add to facebook – we can really get inspired and share the experience with our creative community.

Another lovely thing from Louise are the meditation and energy focus kits based on color around each of the chakras.  I’d actually written a paper back in junior high school about the messages colors convey, and I’m so thrilled to see that you can take classes to learn more about how colors influence your life.

So here’s to October, filled with art & inspiration, autumn scents & textures, rich & cozy colors! (an of course- instagram yoga poses!)
